An excerpt …
A collection of poems from the book THE PLACE WHERE WE LIVE by Ken Bradbury.
(THE FLAG IN THE PARK)
And I’m wondering … just wondering … I’d like to inquire.
If a flag can get lonely ... If a flag can get tired.
I’m wondering while being alone standing there
If a flag begins wondering if anyone cares.
(OUR LITTLE SECRET)
Here’s what you do … (remember, it’s secret,
and a secret’s not secret unless you can keep it.)
On that terrible day that you’ve dreaded so long
stop for a moment before you put on
your clothing and hold up your own underwear,
and put them on backwards! (I said it! So There!)
I’m really not kidding, just take your wee drawers
and put them on backwards (You can do it! They’re yours!)
